History of Clearmind UK

In October 2000, Duane O’Kane came from Vancouver, Canada to speak at the Miracle Network (www.miracles.org.uk) conference in London, England. Duane was invited to come back and facilitate The Awakening workshop in February 2001. After the first Awakening being such a success, the word spread and the Miracle Network decided to hold it twice a year in London and Dorset, England until August 2005. As well as the Awakening Workshops, the Miracle Network and Clearmind London UK has put on Men and Miracles, Drawing Down the Moon, Relationship Alive and The Edge.

Many participants from the Awakening have taken the trip to Vancouver to participate in The Rude Awakening, a two-week leadership training held every summer, and The Summit, an advanced leadership training also held every summer. In addition to The Awakening and other workshops, further support for graduates is provided through a weekly group, which has been sustained for the last few years.

Clearmind London UK also offers the assistant training course for graduates who wish to train to assist at Awakenings. There is also an advanced training course for those who wish to work towards facilitating groups and eventually The Awakening Workshop itself.

What is the Awakening?

The Awakening is an invitation to a new experience of your self, your life, your friends, your family and the world.

Most of what appear to be external obstacles in life are really internal ones. We complain about him or her, this or that, and convince ourselves that if things outside of ourselves would change, our experience of life would change. But our internal landscape determines our experience of the external one. Perception is not a window it is a mirror.

This is a workshop about the spiritual dilemma that underlies and translates into the psychological drama of our daily lives. You will be presented with an internal map, based on A Course in Miracles, of the dynamics of the psychological defense system that is revolutionary and universal in application. This can be a life altering moment, delivered at the level of experience rather than restricted to intellect and insight.

The Awakening is a creative, empowering, process oriented weekend, focusing in depth on the relinquishment of a thought system based on fear for a thought system based on love.

What will I discover?

Empowerment, accountability, freedom and purpose. You will leave the workshop with a new experience, a new understanding, and conflict resolution tools to continue your process. Clearmind International prides itself on providing ongoing support beyond the workshop with support groups, lectures and continued programs.

Being consumed by explaining the quality of our existence by ‘him or her’, or ‘this or that’ keeps you in a state of perpetual victim consciousness. Realizing that you are not at the effect of the world, but rather that the world is at the effect of you, has the potential of revolutionizing not only your relationship with yourself, but launching a new way of relating to the world and everyone in it.

Once you have taken back responsibility for your own life, you can then begin to address and pursue your life’s purpose.

What can I expect?

Our attempts at change too often result in knowing better, or feeling relief, but continuing to be stuck. Genuine, integrated change requires targeting thinking, feeling, and doing, which we achieve through a balance between experience and understanding. The Awakening is an intense psychological adventure, promoting honesty, expression, compassion and group dynamics.

The workshop is typically taught by two qualified facilitators, and features a number of trained assistants. The team is dedicated to providing you a safe, non-confrontational, professionally delivered weekend experience that prides itself on respecting the speed at which each participant decides to proceed. We ensure a therapeutically responsible and professional approach to the delivery of all of our programs.

The Awakening is a three day weekend workshop starting at around noon on Friday and going through Sunday evening. All materials will be provided at the workshop with no prerequisites required other than willingness and openness. Workshops are typically residential with food provided throughout the weekend. Dress casually and comfortably for the weekend and be ready to change your world.
